Kruger Park

Lapalala Wilderness
This large private reserve to the west of the provincial capital Pietersburg-Polokwane was the first private reserve in South Africa to buy black rhinoceroses. Moreover are there white rhinoceroses, zebras, gnus, hippopotamuses, crocodiles and several types of antelopes. There is also a rhinoceros museum, which was established in the old Melkrivier School, next to Waterberg Cultural Museum. Near Lapalala you can also enjoy horseback riding.
Venda homelands
The Venda region (north of Limpopo), once the homelands of the Venda ethnic group during apartheid, is an interesting area to visit. Several forests and lakes have an important religious meaning for the Venda. Thohoyandou was the capital of the Venda homelands. Most public transportation leaves from Sibasa, a couple kilometers to the north of Thohoyandou. This is also the starting point of several interesting organized tours.
Ndzalama Nature Reserve
The focus of this reserve is not so much on the ‘Big Five’, but rather teaches and informs visitors about survival, tracking, legends etc. The luxurious Ndzamala lodge has six country cottages with air conditioning. There is a guide available for you to learn more about the surroundings.
Magoebaskloof Pass
In the surroundings you can do great walking excursion, for example in the Woodbush forest and the De Hoek State forest. During the summer there are waterfalls, where you can refresh yourself.

Nyani Cultural Village
To experience how traditional Shangaan families live, you can pay a visit to this cultural village. It offers explanation concerning daily living, habits, traditional medicine and architecture. It is on the route to Thornybush Game Reserve, 4 kilometers off Route 40, near Kaserie Dam.
