The South African summer is in our (Western) summer. All the season are opposite of ours. Winter nights in South Africa can get very chilly (below freezing in some areas), so make sure you bring a sweater for those cold evenings.
South Africa does not have a rainy season. In Cape Town, the months of May, June, July and August have the highest rainfall. In Durban most rains fall between October until March and in Johannesburg between November and February.
Below you’ll find a table with average maximum temperatures (daytime) and average minimum temperatures (evening and night) for Johannesburg, Cape Town and Durban.
