Addo Elephant National Park

The original section of the park was proclaimed in 1931, when only eleven elephants remained in the area - today the park is sanctuary to over 450 elephants, Cape buffalo, black rhino and a variety of antelope species. There are plans to double the size of the Addo National Elephant Park in the future, which would turn Addo from a 164,000 ha park into a 360,000 ha mega-park.

There are several look-out points in the park and an underground viewing hide, where visitors can observe and enjoy the natural behaviour of the animals.

You can find more information and book your accommodation on the website of the National Parks Board www.sanparks.org
