Highlights Northern Cape
Although the North Cape is the largest province of South Africa, it has the lowest number of inhabitants. The capital of the North Cape is Kimberly.
The wild flowers of Namaqualand
The best time to see the flowers in full bloom is between in the middle of August and the middle of September. The blossoming of flowers is of course depending on weather conditions and therefore flowering can start slightly earlier or later in the year. If you are on a self-drive holiday, you can see splendid flowers between Garies and Springbok. Also you can pay a visit to The Goegap Nature Reserve. If you rather not drive yourself, you can also book a tour in Springbok.
Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park
This park is the result of the joining of the former Kalahari-Gemsbok National Park in South Africa and Mabuasehube-Gemsbok National Park in Botswana. It is approximately two times larger than the Kruger Park, but a lot less well known. Entirely undeserved, because it is of the most beautiful parks in South Africa. The South African part of the park has been established in 1931. There are 19 types of predators, among which the (Kalahari) lion, cheetah, leopard and wild dog. There are no elephants and rhinoceroses. To book accommodation in Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park you can visit www.sanparks.org
Kimberly
In the capital of the North Cape, Kimberly, you can pay a visit to the Kimberly Mine Museum (open-air museum), The Big Hole (the largest man-made hole in the world) or simply relax in one of the many bars.
